I've Got a Lot of Gall.

The masses have spoken, and they have said they want gallbladders. Crocheted ones. So here you are, masses. Rejoice, for your hour has come!

But seriously, I keep finding gallbladder requests in my inbox, so I took a break from the Valentine's Day hearts to work this guy up. It's in no way to scale with the liver, but it's a fun pic anyways.

Did I mention the gallstones? It comes with three. You can't actually put them inside the gallbladder because the gallbladder is stuffed, but they Can be removed from the bile ducts, which would I suppose technically make them bile duct stones, but that's just splitting hairs.

OOooo AND did I mention I'll be shooting a series of 'An Optimistic Cynic' commercials with the marvelous talents of Bloodpump Productions? Will have at least one of them finished and YouTubed by Valentine's Day. Consider it my Valentine's day card to you all.

Body Part Recipiant - A Touching Story

'You have NO idea how perfect this will be for a family friend who is having a "heart procedure" tomorrow. *Rose knit or crochets "prayer shawls" for church members who are ill or simply need some comfort. Immediately after my mother had a bad stroke five years ago, Rose made a custom prayer shawl for her which my mother absolutely cherished. My mother passed about 1 1/2 years ago so you can see the shawls work!
...We had my mother's closed casket draped in the shawl made by Rose during the visitation the night before the was that special to Mom and extremely appropriate.'

*Names changed at sender request.

Thank you again to the recipient that shared this lovely story with me :-)

Body Part Recipiant!

This is an e-mail from an organ recipient! I'm always asked what people do with the organs I crochet.... well here's an answer for ya. Many thanks to April for giving me permission to re-print this! I loved the creative presentation so much, I had to add the pic as well.
Cheers :-)

"Hi Sarah! April here. I purchased one of your crocheted hearts off of etsy. I got your note and wanted to send you a picture of what I did with it. I'll give you a synopsis as well.

I have been dating Dann for a little over a month now. I knew from the first day I met him I wanted to be with him for the rest of my life. He's a vegan but he's awfully morbid. Right up my alley. I found the crocheted heart on etsy and wanted to give him my "heart" for Christmas. :) The heart arrived and it was perfect! I bought a plain box from Jo Ann fabrics. I stained it and coated it twice with a clear coat. After all of that dried, I took red paid and splatter painted "blood" in the box. I put the heart in it and will be giving it to him tomorrow.

I am very excited to be giving him this present - just as it's shown in the picture. Thank you so much for creating this for me to give him as a symbol of my love.
